Hypothermic Half Marathon

Great day yesterday in Dieppe for the 2007 Hypothermic Half Marathon. Contrary to the name...it was actually close to zero by the time we finished (Unlike the last month!) Thanks again to the volunteers who make a road race like this possible. Congrats to my group who crossed the finish line in just over 1:59 with me...Great job Hypo Huffers! Terrific brunch at Fisherman's Paradise too. Proceeds from the race went to The YMCA.
Maybe you remember me talking about our clinic member Warrant Officer Les Connolly who was deployed to Afganistan and couldn't run with us. Les completed his event in Kandahar on Friday and I got this e-mail and the above picture shortly after we got off the air Friday:
On this morning's 104FM morning show (with Tony and Shelli), Tony made mention of "Les" running a half-marathon in Kandahar, Afghanistan. I wanted to pass on to Tony that Warrant Officer Les Connolly finished his run in 1 hour 56 minutes and 12 seconds. Les also wanted passed on that he will be thinking of his training-buddies during their run on Sunday. Les is deployed on a six-month tour with eleven other members of 2 Specialist Engineering Team of 1 Engineer Support Unit based out of Moncton. Captain Renald Nelson
Way to go Les!
As always...if you wanna join the craziest people in the South-East...Run Club is free every Wednesday at 6pm and Sundays at 8:30am. It's at The Running Room on Main Street and there's usually a distance and a pace for everybody. They have great clinics there that help you Learn To Run & Walk.

The Super Dogs!

Magic 104 was proud to present The Iams Superdogs 'El Festiva' show at Moncton Coliseum on Sunday afternoon. What a great show! Did you know that 30-40 percent of the dogs at these shows have been adopted from humane societies and SPCA's across the country? I think that's pretty neat. We have a great SPCA here in South-East New Brunswick...listen for Adopt A Pet weekday afternoons at 1:50 with Mel Sampson to hear our pet of the day. Thanks again to the Superdogs producers...My daughter Emily was celebrating her birthday on Sunday and got to be a part of the show! Fun times!

Vote For Denny

Maybe you've heard us talking about Canada's Walk Of Fame the last couple of days....

They're excepting nominations for the upcoming induction ceremonies. We've been playing a game where I get Shelli to try guess someone who isn't already on the walk...There are 101 Canuck celebs on the walk now...I mean...How many could there be?

WELL! Lo and behold...Didn't Shelli come up with a great Canadian musician who isn't on there!

Can you believe that the late Denny Doherty has never been put on the walk of fame?

Denny passed away suddenly just a few weeks ago and we think that this could be a great tribute.

Vote Denny into the Canada's Walk Of Fame here: Vote Denny

By the way...there's a great tribute to Denny at his website....definitely worth checking out.
