Thinking Pink 2006

Last night I had the pleasure to attend the team captain's meeting for the upcoming 2006 CIBC Run For The Cure on October 1st in Moncton and across Canada. What a time last night at Taylor Ford on the Lewisville Road...The Run For The Cure committee went through everything we need to know for the event this year and we heard a couple of amazing speakers...Olive...Not only a committee member but a breast cancer survivor...and Paul from The Salisbury Irving Big Stop...I bet you didn't know that they raise more money than any other single team in Canada! If you missed the meeting you still have lots of time to organize a team from work, your group of friends, school or family. Call 386-3863 or send an e-mail to monctonrunforthecure@hotmail.com

If your team has an event or fundraiser coming up over the Summer for The Run For The Cure Magic 104 would love to let everybody else know about it...E-Mail magic104@radiomoncton.com

Thanks to Andy and his committee for letting Magic 104 help with promotion of the event this year. Now lets get out there with those pledge sheets!

Thanks for listening!

The Showdown

I recently had a chance to race a Canadian Ironman Triathalon Champion! Garret MacFadyen who lives right here in the Moncton area challenged me to a race at the Moncton Subaru 'Du'. It was a 5K run, 20K bike, and 2.5K run. Garrett did added distance...7.5K run, 30K bike, and 2.5K run. It was my first Duathalon and it was great! I've certainly caught the bug and will be doing the Shediac Triathalon in August at Parlee Beach. Go to Triathalon New Brunswick to find out more and if you'd like to race locally you can check out the Southeast Storm Triathalon Club. I'd especially like to thank Garrett for not whipping my butt too badly! A great picture up above...My...I look confident don't I? I unfortunately don't have any pics from after the race...thank god!

Thanks for listening!

Save Mr. Dressup

Upset by the news on Wednesday that The CBC is cancelling Mr. Dressup, Tony Smith and Shelli Summers of Magic 104 in Moncton went to listeners with the story. Well, to say that the reaction was overwhelming would be an understatement... Maritimers from three provinces had called into the show by the time things were said and done at 9 o'clock. Buoyed by the support from their loyal listeners The Magic Morning Show have started a petition to save Mr. Dressup:

To: All Good Canadian Kids
Thanks for listening to Tony & Shelli on Magic 104. We need your help to stop a Canadian tragedy. The CBC has announced that it is cancelling Mr. Dressup. Help us save the show that raised 3 generations of Canadian children. Sign our petition and we'll let the CBC know that there should always be room for Mr. Dressup & his tickle trunk on 'our' network.

Go to
http://www.petitiononline.com/Magic104/ and save a Canadian icon! Tell the CBC that there should always be half an hour for the best kids show ever.

Thanks for listening! Tony & Shelli The Magic 104 Morning Show
